Dainty Doll was created by Nicola Roberts (of Girls Aloud) with the intention of creating products that "enhance the beauty of fairer skin tones". Honestly, I don't really see how that idea translates to these eyeliners as they seem to be fairly suitable for all skin tones.
I've read a lot of good things about the Dainty Doll brand, especially their lipsticks and blushes, so when I spotted the eyeliners on a recent Fragrance Direct haul, I picked up two of them!
Now I LOVE the packaging of these! The sleek black packaging with the gold accent makes it look quite expensive and more like a luxury brand. The box with the caricature of Nicola Roberts is great too.
Formula wise, they're soft and incredibly pigmented as well as applying really well too.
I got the shades 'I'm So Pretty' and 'Night Train'.
'I'm So Pretty' is a lovely chocolate brown with a matte finish. It's a great shade for brown and green eyes and suits most light to medium skin tones. It's so smooth and lasts for about 10 hours with minor smudging on the lash line, thought that could be due to the very hot weather. On the waterline, it only lasted for about 3 hours.
'Night Train' is a deep, matte blue/navy shade. The formula and lasting time is exactly the same as above. Due to the softness of these, I think they'd even make decent eyeshadows as they're easy to blend. Both of them would be ideal in smoky eye looks for most eye colours, 'Night Train' looking especially striking against blue eyes.
The swatches below show just how pigmented they are.
Usually retailing for £10.50, they are on the dearer end of drugstore prices but considering the wearability of these shades and the great formula, I would be more than willing to pay the full retail price for them. At 99p on Fragrance Direct, they're a complete steal!
